Novig: Important Information & How I View It
From CrazyNinjaMike
As many of you are aware, I've made a conscious decision to not enter into
affiliate partnerships with sportsbooks. I don't want anyone getting limited
simply for using my link.
To further safeguard your privacy and betting experience, I've taken special care
in how I link to sportsbook house rules on my FAQ page so that the sportsbooks
cannot trace your visit back to crazyninjaodds.com.

Sportsbooks vs. Exchanges (In Theory)
On a normal sportsbook, it's you vs. the house. If you win, they lose. If you win
enough, they will often limit or ban you.
On a true prediction exchange, positions are matched user vs. user. The exchange just
takes a fee from the winner. The more volume and action, the better for the exchange,
and they generally have little incentive to limit sharp players.
Not every platform that uses “exchange” or “peer-to-peer” language behaves like this
in every product they offer. The rest of this page is my current understanding of how
Novig works and where I think the risk is.
What Is Novig (My Current Understanding)?
Novig is a social sports prediction platform built on a sweepstakes model. You purchase
Novig Coins and are gifted bonus Novig Cash, which is then used to enter
sweepstakes-style sports prediction contests for the chance to win cash prizes.
Novig markets itself as a peer-to-peer prediction exchange. For many
straight/single bets, it appears that you are primarily matched
against other users at posted prices.
However, for parlays / Same Game Parlays (SGPs) and certain multi-leg products,
pricing and risk appear to be handled by Novig and/or its pricing providers/market makers,
which means those products do not behave like a pure user-vs-user exchange.
SGPs / Parlays on Novig: Recent Incident & Resolution
Recently, a CNO community member (Dylan / @dylanbets33789) had a large set
of winning NHL SGPs on Novig. The important parts of that story:
- He placed a series of NHL SGPs on a Friday morning.
- The bets were accepted and shown as "matched".
- They were graded as winners, and his balance increased by a bit over $100k.
- He continued placing bets on Saturday using those winnings.
- On Sunday, more than 48 hours later, Novig applied a large negative account adjustment
citing an "obvious error", which effectively voided those trades and
temporarily left his account with a large negative balance.
That initial response understandably caused a lot of concern in the betting community
(including here at CNO), because it suggested that large, already settled SGP
wins could be reversed days later.
Novig's Follow-Up & Resolution
After Dylan went public with what happened and I (and others) raised the issue directly,
Novig's CEO spoke with him and Novig decided to reverse course. They posted the statement
below and have chosen to honor all of the affected trades and pay them in full.
Dylan’s original thread describing his experience is here:
Note: Dylan’s thread reflects the initial handling. Novig has since called him and
decided to pay all of the affected SGPs in full, as reflected in their follow-up tweet.
From my perspective, this shows two things:
-
Risk: SGPs/parlays on any platform (including Novig) are more complex and
more likely to be impacted by bugs or correlation issues than simple singles.
-
Positive signal: When pushed on this, Novig ultimately chose to
own the mistake, publicly say they got it wrong, and pay everyone out in full.
Personally, if I were going to use Novig at all, I would still lean primarily on
straight/single bets and be more conservative with SGPs/parlays simply
because there are more moving parts and more ways for something to go wrong operationally.
How To Use Novig
-
Straight / Single Bets:
For many straight markets, Novig appears to function more like a traditional
exchange, with users matching each other's orders. I continue to show Novig's
straight odds as a data point on CrazyNinjaOdds for line shopping and
hedging purposes.
-
Parlays / SGPs / Multi-Legs:
These products behave more like a house book priced and risk-managed by Novig and/or
its vendors. But if Novig decides to void a contract that has already settled, there is no gaming commission to turn to. Novig ultimately paid everything in full in Dylan's case,
which I give them credit for, but I personally recommend to be more cautious with Novig's SGPs/parlays.
Where Novig Operates
Novig uses a sweepstakes model and is currently available in many U.S. states.
Availability and legality may change over time and can depend on your specific state
and their rules. Always check Novig’s own site for the latest information.
Sweepstakes Model Basics
-
Sweepstakes Model: You purchase Novig Coins and are gifted bonus
Novig Cash, which is used to enter sweepstakes-style contests. Please read Novig's
own rules carefully so you understand exactly what you are buying and what is eligible
for withdrawal.
-
Responsible Gameplay: Only play with money you can afford to have
tied up or potentially at risk due to operator decisions (including voids/adjustments).
-
Tax Implications: Winnings above certain thresholds may create
tax-reporting obligations. Track your play and consult a tax professional if needed.
My Current Stance on Novig
-
I continue to include Novig odds in various CNO tools, primarily for
straight/single markets, because a lot of users already
have funds there and want to compare prices.
-
I want to be transparent about the extra operational risk I believe exists
around parlays/SGPs on Novig, as highlighted by the recent NHL SGP incident and its resolution.
-
As with other higher-risk books/operators on the site, my goal is to give you
the information so you can make your own decision about whether the edge is worth
the counterparty and product complexity risk.
If You Still Choose to Use Novig
I'm not here to tell you where you can or can't play. My job is to make sure you
understand the tradeoffs.
If you decide to use Novig anyway — especially for straight/single bets — and you want
to support CrazyNinjaOdds while doing it, you can optionally:
Promo Option 1: New users receive a 50% discount on their
first purchase, up to $25 off. Show your support for CrazyNinjaOdds by entering
promo code CNO when making your first purchase.
Promo Option 2: New users receive a 10% discount on their

Using those codes provides a promo benefit to you and supports CrazyNinjaOdds.
This is not a blanket recommendation to sign up or deposit; it's simply
an option for those of you who were going to use Novig regardless and want to throw some
support CNO’s way.
If you've already made a purchase on Novig and later decide you want to credit CNO,
you can contact me and I can let you know whether
it's still possible to have a code applied retroactively.
